Cosy Cuppa!
Braided Mug Hug
Your friends will be green with envy when they see how toasty warm your cuppa stays even on the coldest mornings!
Note: Our mug is 27cm circumference.
Materials:
- 1 ball Patons Dreamtime 8ply or Heirloom Merino Magic
- Pair 4mm needles
- Set double pointed needles 4mm
- Cable needle
- 1 button
Abbreviations:
C4b – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, K2 then K2 from cable needle.
C4f – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, K2 then K2 from cable needle.
C4b – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, K2 then K2 from cable needle.
C4f – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, K2 then K2 from cable needle.
Instructions:
Cast on 18sts.
Knit 8 rows garter stitch.
Commence pattern.
Pattern:
1st row : knit 4, slip1,purl 8, knit 5
2nd row : knit 4, slip1,c4b twice, Knit 5
3rd row: as 1st row
4th row: knit 4 , slip 1, K2, c4f, K7
Continue in pattern until work measures circumference of mug less 4cm approx (i.e. for our mug 23cm) ending with a 3rd row.
Knit 8 rows garter stitch.
Cast off. Make a 6cm long icord on 4 stitches leaving a 20cm tail of yarn. Fold icord into a loop and attach to centre of one end of the mug using the tail of yarn. Sew button on to cosy to correspond with loop.
