Knitted Christmas Tree Bauble

 

Materials:
1 ball Heirloom Merino Magic 8 ply (makes 8 baubles)
3.25 mm  knitting needles
Wool needle
Polyester stuffing

Abbreviations:
kfb: knit through front and back of stitch to make a stitch

 

Instructions:
Cast on 9 stitches.
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: (K1, kfb) four times. K1. [13]
Row 3: Purl
Row 4: (K2, kfb) four times.[17]
Row 5: Purl
Row 6: (K3, kfb) four times. [21]
Row 7: Purl
Rows 8 to 15 inclusive: stocking stitch. [21]
Row 16: (K3, k2tog) four times. K1. [17]
Row 17: Purl
Row 18:(K2, k2tog) four times. K1. [13]
Row 19: P.url
Row 20:(K1, k2tog) four times. K1. [9]
Row21: P2tog 4 times, P1. [5]

Finishing:
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail.
Thread the tail through a wool needle and draw the needle through the remaining stitches.  Draw up and fasten off securely.

Sew up the sides of the ball. When near the top, start to fill the ball with stuffing.
When the sewing and stuffing are complete draw up, fasten off and make a hanging loop.
